If you’re an airpod user, then you’ll already know that they’re the best thing since sliced bread.
This becomes incredibly appealing when you switch back to the wired variety after misplacing them, or you’re experiencing issues with your pods.
This can be incredibly frustrating, and one of the most common problems that airpod users report is a static like noise emanating from their pods.
This can be incredibly disruptive when you’re trying to listen to your favorite tunes, or your weekly podcast, and make the entire experience unpleasant.
So, why are your airpods making a static noise seemingly out of nowhere, and is there anything that you yourself can do to fix it?
Don’t worry, I’m here to help, and to reassure you that there’s a very easy solution to the problem you’ve been experiencing.
To find out more, simply keep reading below, as we take a closer look together.
1. Make Sure Your Airpods Are Fully Charged
We know that this sounds like an incredibly simplistic issue, but oftentimes, we don’t realize that our airpods are running low on charge, and this can lead to a whole host of different sound based issues.
After all, airpods run on batteries, and when they are running low, they don’t just switch off immediately. Oftentimes, they’ll make a series of crackling noises beforehand, which tells you that they need to be charged so that they’re running on full capacity again.
Charge your airpods by putting them in their case, and connecting them to the cable. After you’ve done this, you can try using them again to see if this has resolved the situation. It’s good to rule out this simple problem first, in case there’s anything further to diagnose.
2. Check That You’re In Range
If you didn’t already know, airpods work via bluetooth, so they need to be within bluetooth range in order to work.
Perhaps you’re listening to your podcast, and you’ve left your phone in the other room as you move around the house.
If this is when you tend to hear the crackling or static-like noise, then this is likely to be the issue.
In order to fix this problem, you just need to make sure that you’re keeping your phone close at hand wherever you go.
3. Issues With Software
If you’ve eliminated the possible solutions above, and you’re still hearing that annoying crackling noise, then it’s highly likely that you’re experiencing software problems.
If you’re experiencing software problems, then it’s good to know that this is an incredibly easy thing to fix.
Most often, the software issue that you’re experiencing is caused by not updating your IOS.
You can easily rectify this by plugging your phone into a charging port, and then going into the settings section of your phone.
After you’ve done this, you can then go ahead and click on general, then check if there’s a software update.
If there is, be sure to do it as soon as possible, so that your phone is working properly. This will ensure the efficiency of your airpod’s audio quality.
4. Issues With Your App
The issue that you’re experiencing with your airpods may be nothing to do with your phone, or the pods themselves, but rather, the app that you’re using.
Perhaps the sound quality of the music uploaded there is poor in quality, and is affecting your listening experience.
Try switching to a different app, to see if the sound is any different. In addition, it could be a problem with the track itself.
Maybe a particular song that you’re listening to has a glitch, and this is causing the static like noise in your ears.
5. Issues With The Airpods
If you’ve tried everything to fix your airpods, and they’re still making a static noise, then chances are that there’s an issue with the airpods themselves.
This means that they might need to be reset. Don’t worry, this is super simple to do, and just involves a few steps.
First of all, you’ll want to put your pods in their case, and attach them to a charging port. After you’ve done this, you’re going to want to wait for approximately 40 seconds.
After you’ve done this, you can go ahead and open up the lid.
Make sure that they’re connected to the port throughout this entire process. Then, you can go ahead and open the settings app on your phone.
In the settings app, you’ll see a section called ‘Bluetooth’, this will then have a subset of headings, one of which will be called ‘Available Devices’.
You can allow your phone to forget your airpods by clicking on the ‘info’ section. After you’ve done this, then you can go ahead and open up the lid of your airpods once more.
You’ll then need to press the button termed ‘Setup’, for a total of 15 seconds. You’ll notice the case flashing, which means that it’s worked.
If that’s the case, you can then go ahead and reconnect them again, and check if the audio quality has improved.
Final Thoughts
To sum up, most of the issues experienced by airpod users can be fixed in a simple manner.
Make sure that you’re eliminating the most common items first, such as checking that your airpods are fully charged, and that you’re in bluetooth range.
